Here are 5 ways I have cut down spending while unemployed:
1. Free Outdoor Workouts: I have been working out at local parks, going on bike rides with friends, exploring new hiking trails, and taking walks on the beach while listening to podcasts.
2. Find a Free Hobby : I picked up tennis as a New Years Resolution in 2020. There are free courts all over San Diego County. My girlfriends and I love that our weekly tennis date has become our social hour. Might I say... very on brand with the Après Sweat lifestyle!
3. Set Up Automatic Savings: If you feel like you will never get out of debt ... I feel you. It has been a year and a half since I paid off my credit card. I found a financial advisor who helped me set up a savings account, investment account, and a Roth IRA (retirement.) Creating a plan has helped me feel less stressed about my finances. It is all about consistency and growth overtime. I realize not everyone has the luxury to save money. Thank you Grandpa and Dad for all the lessons on finances. I am so thankful I started where I could.
4. Delete Subscriptions Double check your bank statements & remove recurring subscriptions or auto renewals that you no longer need. Try this out on your iPhone to be sure you don't have any hidden subscriptions. Settings > "Your Name" Apple ID, iCloud, Purchases > Subscriptions > Turn on Renewal Receipts I have been the victim of having these turned off and didn't realize I was being charged monthly. Some apps start as free trials and will start charging you until you cancel.
5. Skip Takeout and Meal Prep at Home I am literally debating ordering post mates right now. This is one I am still practicing... my self control! If you are ever in the need for some recipes or grocery or shopping inspo, I have a ton of recipe highlights saved on my personal IG account.
