Hi, I'm Maya.
I'm a trainer, a Barry's instructor, and a Vuori V1 lead. My background is in indoor cycling, strength training, and building a community around movement. Good music has always been part of the workout. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at San Diego State, and I've been working in gyms since I was old enough to get my worker's permit at 15.
Before I taught fitness, I spent ten years as a competitive cheerleader. I secretly loved the conditioning that helped me get better at cheerleading, gymnastics, and diving. Everything except running stairs. When injuries kept me from auditioning for my dream college team at San Diego State, I had to find a new way to move and a new team. My freshman year, I traded my cheerleading shoes for spin shoes and taught my first indoor cycling class.
Fitness is much more than working out to look a certain way. For me, it's an outlet for feeling strong, grounded, and connected. Group fitness became my team, and helping other people find that feeling is still my favorite part of this work.
My approach brings together strength, cardio, and mobility. That can mean starting with bodyweight movements, adding weights as you get stronger, and making room for recovery. I care about good form, consistency, and workouts that challenge you without making movement feel like a chore.
And outside the workout? I believe in balance. Bagels between workouts. Good playlists. Time with friends. A spicy margarita après sweat. Taking care of yourself should leave room for enjoying your life.
That's what this community is about: taking care of our bodies, our people, and our planet. Après is French for "after". The workout is only part of the story. This is a place for the conversations, connections, city guides, and little things that keep us feeling good afterward.
Come for the sweat. Stay for the community.
